This edition of Dynamite was built more like a mini pay-per-view than a weekly television show. Between two championship matches and a Casino Gauntlet match, there were major stakes throughout the night that could shape AEW's summer of 2026.

Headlining the show was MJF defending the AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega, who would lose the ability to ever challenge for the title again if he came up short. It's a stipulation that once ended Cody Rhodes' title aspirations and more recently sidelined Adam Page from the championship picture. Would the Best Bout Machine become its latest victim?

That, and much more, went down on this episode of Dynamite:

AEW Dynamite Results (July 8, 2026)

• Backstage, Kenny Omega is asked about the stakes of his AEW World Championship match against MJF. Omega says it's do or die, but that's when he's always done his best work, dating back to his time on the independent scene. He says that if this is the end of his pursuit, he'll shake MJF's hand and move on, but it won't come easy. Omega questions whether MJF can dig deep enough to defeat him, end his dream of another AEW World Championship reign and take away his chance to headline All In at Wembley Stadium.
• Tommaso Ciampa def. Chris Jericho by pinfall. After the match, Ciampa attacked Jericho with a steel chair.
• A vignette shows the Brawling Birds fighting random men inside a bar.
• Backstage, Will Ospreay says he’s pulling for Kenny Omega to win, though he can't deny how good MJF is, even with all of the shenanigans that come with him. MJF interrupts and questions why Ospreay is so judgmental when he should be thanking him instead. MJF says it's ironic that Ospreay talks about restoring the feeling when he's the one actually doing it.

  MJF also questions why everyone believes Wembley Stadium is all about Ospreay when, in reality, it's all about the AEW World Championship and the man holding it. He promises to defeat Ospreay at All In. Ospreay responds by saying he can name 50 people bigger than MJF and that he'll never belong in those conversations until he cuts out the antics. MJF spits in Ospreay's face, leading to a brawl.

• AEW International Championship Match: Kyle Fletcher def. Konosuke Takeshita (c) by pinfall to win the championship.

  After the match, Mick Foley comes to the ring and says the moment belongs to Fletcher, not him. The Protostar says Takeshita was never truly his friend and was always riding his coattails. Fletcher says he kept his promise and brought the championship back to the Don Callis Family.

  Callis interrupts and says the moment is about Fletcher, not Foley, who responds by asking Callis what he knows about credibility. Foley shows off his painted shoes featuring his dogs and says that the next time Callis insults him, he’ll kick his rear end.

  Kevin Knight then comes out and says it took Fletcher long enough to bring a title back to the family. Knight reminds everyone that he’s still owed a world title opportunity and says he'll be watching the main event very closely.

  Andrade El Idolo follows and promises to take championship gold away from the Don Callis Family. Callis says that if Andrade can defeat Jake Doyle next week, he'll earn a match against Mark Davis for the AEW International Championship. Members of the Don Callis Family chase Andrade to the back, only for Darby Allin to attack them. Andrade then triggers a trap attached to Allin's skateboard as the fight continues backstage.

• Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay def. Anthony Henry and JD Drake by pinfall.
• A video package recaps Hikaru Shida's TBS Championship victory in the Survival of the Fittest Match.
• No. 1 Contender’s Casino Gauntlet Match for the AEW Women's World Championship: Willow Nightingale returned from injury and pinned Julia Hart to become the No. 1 contender for the championship.

  After the match, Nightingale and Thekla brawled in the ring while Divine Dominion attacked Hart and Skye Blue. Mercedes Mone then attacked both Thekla and Nightingale to close the segment.

• A video package highlights Jack Perry's AEW career as he questions whether he's lived up to his potential. Perry then announces that he has officially re-signed with AEW.
• Mike Bailey says he is challenging Mark Davis for the AEW National Championship.
• AEW World Championship Match (if Kenny Omega loses, he can never challenge for the title again): Kenny Omega def. MJF (c) by pinfall to win the title. A graphic appeared to confirm Omega vs. Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship at All In.

Consumer prices rose 1% in June from a year ago, missing economists' estimates of 1.1% growth in a Reuters poll, and slowing from 1.2% in May, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.

Core CPI, excluding volatile food and energy prices, also rose 1% in June from a year earlier, edging down from the 1.1% increase in May. Food prices declined 1.6% from a year earlier, easing from a fall of 1.7% in May.

The producer price index jumped 4.1% from a year earlier, in line with economists' forecast and outpacing May's 3.9%. That marked the strongest growth since July 2022, according to LSEG data. On a month-on-month basis, however, PPI declined 0.3%, official data showed.

"Oil prices are by and large on an easing course, and this will prevent PPI from going higher," said Tianchen Xu, senior economist at Economist Intelligence Unit, while attributing the year-on-year strength to the low-base effect. "Factories can't fully pass on cost increases to downstream clients," Xu added, highlighting the entrenched weakness in domestic demand.

The producer prices recorded its worst decline in almost two years in June last year, falling 3.6% from the prior year, as a deepening price war rippled through the economy.

They returned to growth in March with input costs rising on the back of the Middle East conflict, helping end one of China's longest deflationary streaks in decades. Besides higher commodity costs owed to war-led supply disruptions, wholesale prices have also been lifted by a growing demand for artificial intelligence computing power, pushing up prices for tech equipment and semiconductors.

China's manufacturing activity expanded faster than expected in June, with experts citing external demand including for AI-related tech as driving the momentum.

Many investors in China increasingly view the two-speed growth — marked by robust exports versus weak consumption and housing market — as a defining long-term feature of the Chinese economy, said Neo Wang, China strategist at Evercore ISI.

Consumer sentiment remains subdued as households continue to grapple with the negative wealth effect stemming from the prolonged housing downturn, Wang added.

The export and manufacturing-led economic resilience is expected to reinforce Beijing's reluctance to roll out stimulus to revive tepid consumer demand. "Policymakers are likely to refrain from major new stimulus unless the slowdown persists beyond the conflict," said Gabriel Wildau, managing director at Teneo.

Wildau points to a top policy meeting by the 24-member Politburo of the Communist Party in late July as "the next opportunity to escalate policy stimulus."

The International Monetary Fund on Wednesday forecast China's economy to outperform the global growth this year, raising their growth forecast for China to 4.6%, up from its previous projection of 4.4%, while trimming global economic expansion to a sluggish 3%. China has set a modest growth target of 4.5%-5% this year.

They attributed that optimistic view to China's robust high-tech manufacturing and export performance, as well as frontloaded public infrastructure investments. %!s()

The effort instantly became local news, and then national news. Trade Michael Jordan? The Chicago Bulls superstar who had just led the team to back-to-back championships, earning an MVP award in the process?

It was, of course, a ruse. Upper Deck was not trying to persuade the Bulls to trade MJ, rather they were eager to announce something new: An exclusive licensing agreement for trading cards, images of which ultimately replaced that stark white billboard.

35 years later and Upper Deck is reviving the billboard, featuring it in a new video marketing campaign about, of course, Michael Jordan, who has signed an extension with the brand, continuing the partnership that has lasted decades, even as the sports and media landscape has changed so dramatically.

The new campaign’s tagline? “You Don’t Trade Greatness, You Keep it for a Lifetime.”

The collectible brand on Tuesday unveiled its new partnership with Jordan, one that will elevate the NBA legend-turned NASCAR owner a “Legacy Partner,” giving him enhanced oversight of what collectibles get made, and cracking down on forgeries in a market where celebrity and sports autographs are in high demand.

“I’m proud to be Upper Deck’s first Legacy Partner. For more than 30 years, this partnership has been about creating something different – cards and memorabilia collectors can’t find anywhere else. I’m looking forward to what comes next,” said Jordan in a statement.

“I can’t speak for Michael and the decision. What I can say is that we’ve had a very close relationship, I think it’s the longest standing relationship in the industry,” says Jason Masherah, the president of Upper Deck. “He is a key spokesman and a key part of the Upper Deck legacy, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.”

“A big part of our job as Upper Deck is to make sure that our exclusive sports people have an elevated status, and nobody can be more elevated than Michael here in sports,” Masherah said, when asked about the Legacy Partner status. “Part of it is creating new products and making sure that we are creating things that are new and unique and different in the space, but again, a big part is making sure that collectors are protected and making sure that we’re working hand in hand with Michael and his team to go after counterfeiters and infringers and fraudsters in this space.”

In connection with the deal, Upper Deck this week will roll out a new Jordan chase: Signed sealed packs of 1986-87 Fleer basketball cards, numbered to 23. The company will also auction off a sealed box of 1986-87 Fleer on eBay, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

The campaign, which riffs on that billboard-driven news cycle, underscores in many ways the changing nature of fame, with many of the biggest global celebrities also being athletes. Jordan, who starred in Space Jam, contributes to NBC’s NBA coverage and now owns a championship-caliber NASCAR team, is perhaps the quintessential example.

Though Upper Deck has bet the farm on forging deals with other sports superstars (as well as some established entertainment IP, like Harry Potter, DC Comics and Looney Tunes).

“I think the biggest piece for us, when we look at Upper Deck authenticated, is finding athletes that fit the slogan ‘Collect the Best,'” Masherah says. “So when you look at the portfolio of exclusive athletes that we have, we’ve got Michael, Tiger [Woods], [Wayne] Gretzky, Patrick Roy, Bobby Orr, Alex Morgan, Carrie Walsh Jennings, those are some of the greatest athletes in the history of sports. We’ll continue to look at that, and then we’ll continue to concentrate on kind of our key sports, and then look for new opportunities, whether it’s Skye Brown, who will shine in the Olympics here in ’28.”

Does that mean other “Legacy Partners” could come in the future?

“I think there are a couple other candidates in our stable of athletes that are important pieces and want to become more involved in the day-to-day business, but we’re not there yet,” Masherah says. %!s()

On Wednesday, CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala (pictured above) took to X to publicly challenge the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), accusing the watchdog of preventing Truecaller from displaying community-reported spam information for calls from the country’s dedicated 1400 and 1600 number series, a restriction he said had enabled abuse of those numbers and eroded trust in legitimate business calls.

The dispute stems from a framework introduced in 2024 under which India’s telecom authorities designated the 1400 and 1600 number series for commercial communications, with businesses using the former for telemarketing calls and the latter for service- and transaction-related calls. TRAI later mandated the migration to the dedicated numbering series, saying the move would help consumers identify legitimate business communications and curb spam and scam calls.

The framework was rolled out amid growing concerns over spam and scam calls in India, one of the world’s largest telecom markets, where regulators and telecom operators have rolled out multiple measures to curb fraudulent communications. Last year, the Indian communications ministry said authorities disconnected more than 2.1 million fraudulent mobile numbers and took action against more than 100,000 entities over the preceding year, underscoring the scale of the challenge.

Jhunjhunwala argued the policy has produced unintended consequences. Citing internal company data, he said consumers have increasingly lost trust in the designated number series, with Truecaller users ignoring 81% of calls from the 1400 series and 79% from the 1600 series over the past eight months. During the same period, users manually blocked 74 million calls from the two number series, while daily blocking actions against 1600-series numbers have more than tripled since October 2025, he said.

Unable to mark those numbers as spam, Truecaller instead introduced a “Frequently Blocked” badge to alert users when a number from the designated series has been blocked by many people.

The unusually public criticism came after Indian business daily The Economic Times reported that TRAI had sought powers under India’s Information Technology Act to take action against caller ID apps such as Truecaller, Hiya, and Whoscall for labeling numbers from the designated 1400 and 1600 series as spam.

TRAI and India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, which would consider any such proposal, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The dispute comes at a pivotal time for Truecaller, whose core caller ID business has been facing growing regulatory and competitive pressures as the company expands into new products and services. India remains its largest market by a wide margin, with more than 350 million of its 500 million monthly active users based in the country, according to the company.

Jhunjhunwala said Truecaller would share its data with the Indian IT ministry as part of the regulatory process, arguing that any decision on caller ID apps should be evidence-based.

“Penalize the bad actors, not the ones like Truecaller that make a significant positive impact,” he wrote.

In its recommendations, the report said that "no public appointments should be announced or made without the appropriate security clearance first being granted".

The report said documents published about the process suggested officials had taken a "dismissive view" about the need for Lord Mandelson to pass security clearance before taking up his post.

In its report, the committee said it had tasked itself with establishing "what constituted 'due process' when it came to political appointments".

After exploring what happened in Lord Mandelson's case, the report said, "the Committee has been left with every impression that this process was being made up as it went along".

"Lessons must be learned. There must be a proper process set out for political appointment[s], and this must include a scrutiny evidence session before the Foreign Affairs Committee," it reads.

The committee should have a veto "if the appointee is not felt to meet the standard required", the report said, adding compulsory pre-appointment hearings would "only apply to political appointees and not the Heads of Mission recruited from within the civil service".

It also said these candidates should face a compulsory evidence session prior to their appointment.

The report criticised "appalling" record-keeping by Number 10 and the FCDO and argued this might have been mitigated by a pre-appointment hearing with the committee.

"While Peter Mandelson may not have answered all our questions honestly, there would have been at the very least a public record of his statements, which we now do not have," the report added.

Other recommendations include:

• A formal process should be established for political appointments to ambassadorial roles

• The prime minister should always consult the foreign secretary and the head of diplomatic services before making a political appointment to an ambassadorial role

• Senior civil servants should be briefed on the findings of Sir Adrian Fulford, who is currently undertaking a review of National Security Vetting

• The FCDO must improve its record keeping process in relation to these appointments

The chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the MP Dame Emily Thornberry, said there were "still unanswered questions as to how someone so clearly unfit was appointed British Ambassador to the United States".

She described Lord Mandelson's appointment as an "unmitigated disaster for the country" and called for measures to ensure an "open and transparent process" in the future.

"Processes were rushed or simply not followed. The usual checks and balances were not made. Vital security checks, integral to our national security, seemed to be viewed as a nuisance," she said.

Responding to a request for comment from the BBC, a government spokesperson said changes had already been made to the way the vetting process would apply for political appointees.

"The Prime Minister has commissioned an independent review of the National Security Vetting system, led by Sir Adrian Fulford, to ensure lessons are learned."

It is understood that Lord Mandelson considers the inquiry to have been led in a highly partisan and prejudicial way. It is understood he believes his appointment was not a disaster - with some notable successes. %!s()
