Below, The Hollywood Reporter is highlighting all the stars who received multiple acting nominations at this year’s Emmy Awards.

• Jason Bateman

  

  Jason Bateman was nominated for best actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for his role as Vince Friedkin in Netflix’s Black Rabbit and for best supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for his role as Clark Forrest in HBO Max’s DTF St. Louis.

  He’s now received 18 Emmy nods across his career for acting, producing and directing, but has never won an acting Emmy. He previously won an Emmy in 2019 for directing Ozark.

• Colman Domingo

  

  Colman Domingo earned nominations for best supporting actor in a comedy series for his role as Danny in The Four Seasons and for best guest actor in a drama series for his role as Ali in Euphoria.

  He’s been nominated for a total of four Emmys across his career, including winning in 2022 for his performance in Euphoria season two.

• Laurie Metcalf

  

  Laurie Metcalf earned nominations for best supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for her role as Augusta Gein in Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story and for best guest actress in a comedy series for her role as Weed in HBO Max’s Hacks.

  She’s received a total of 14 Emmy nominations across her career, taking home four wins, including for Hacks in 2022 and Roseanne in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

• Nick Offerman

  

  Nick Offerman was nominated for best supporting actor in a comedy series for his role as Jinx Millet in Apple TV’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles and for best supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for his role as Chester Arthur in Netflix’s Death By Lightning.

  He’s received six Emmy noms throughout his career, including winning in 2023 for The Last of Us.

• Matthew Rhys

  

  Matthew Rhys received acting nominations for best actor in a comedy series for Mayor Tom Loftis in Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay and for best actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for his role as Nile Jarvis in Netflix’s The Beast In Me.

  He’s received a total of 8 Emmy nods across acting and producing, including winning in 2018 for The Americans.

The court last month rejected Trump’s attempt to restrict birthright citizenship in the US, but speaking on Wednesday, the president said he will ask for the case to be heard again.

“AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP IS NOT FOR SALE! In fact, that is a crime, and therefore, the Supreme Court’s ruling is wrong,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. “I will be asking for a Rehearing by the United States Supreme Court, IMMEDIATELY.”

The 6-3 ruling against Trump’s order represented a major blow to the US leader and his efforts to transform immigration policy.

Upon taking office on January 20, 2025, Trump signed an executive order seeking to bar those born in the US to parents on temporary legal statuses or without documentation from automatically receiving US citizenship.

Trump called the latest ruling “too bad for our country” and appealed to Republicans in Congress to pass legislation constricting birthright citizenship. That will likely prove to be an uphill battle, with public opinion polls regularly showing strong public support for the practice and the Supreme Court’s majority opinion suggesting a constitutional amendment would be required.

Trump’s chances of a new hearing appear low, with the Supreme Court rarely granting requests to rehear cases. It has been decades since the court last allowed a retrial after issuing a ruling in an argued case.

Immigration overhaul

Since taking office, Trump has looked to overhaul nearly all forms of immigration in the US.

The court had previously handed the president several immigration victories in recent months, including allowing him to effectively do away with special legal status for residents of some crisis-hit countries, called Temporary Protected Status, and employing a controversial tactic of physically blocking asylum seekers from stepping on US soil, where the government is legally obligated to allow them to apply for protection.

But the Supreme Court voted against his bid to restrict birthright citizenship in the US, ruling that his directive violated language in the US Constitution’s 14th Amendment that confers citizenship to those born in the US who are “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”.

Rights groups hailed the court’s decision. American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) lawyer Cecillia Wang, who argued the challenge at the Supreme Court, said the decision “reaffirms a fundamental American promise – if you are born here, you are a citizen”.

A Migration Policy Institute-Penn State study released in May of last year said an estimated 255,000 infants a year would be born in the US without citizenship under the order, increasing the undocumented population by 2.7 million by 2045.

It warned that the order “would create a self-perpetuating, multigenerational underclass – with US-born residents inheriting the social disadvantage borne by their parents and even, over time, their grandparents and great-grandparents”. %!s()

Human rights group FairSquare said it will lodge the complaint with the IOC regarding Infantino’s “repeated breach of political neutrality rules”, escalating a dispute that has already seen them challenge FIFA’s own ethics processes.

Infantino has been an IOC member since 2020.

FairSquare had filed a complaint with the FIFA Ethics Committee in December 2025, citing multiple instances where Infantino “expressed his public support for the actions and policies” of Trump.

“It also requests that the Ethics Committee investigate Mr Infantino’s role in the decision to introduce a FIFA Peace Prize, the decision to award it to President Trump … and the conformity of these processes with FIFA’s procedural rules,” FairSquare said.

Duty of neutrality

FairSquare’s complaint says Infantino breached Article 15 of the FIFA Code of Ethics, which deals with the duty of neutrality.

People bound by the code must remain politically neutral in official dealings, with breaches punishable by a fine of at least 10,000 Swiss francs ($12,400) and up to a two-year ban from any football-related activity.

The complaint also requests that the Ethics Committee investigate whether the decisions to introduce an annual Peace Prize and then award it to Trump at the World Cup draw were taken by the FIFA Council or unilaterally by Infantino himself.

“If Mr Infantino acted unilaterally and without any statutory authority, this should be considered an egregious abuse of power,” FairSquare said.

IOC ‘would look into’ complaint

IOC President Kirsty Coventry said on Tuesday no complaint had been received to be considered by the ethics commission but added: “Obviously, if they do, they would look into it.”

While FIFA’s Secretariat of the Investigatory Chamber acknowledged receiving the complaint in December, the global football body has given “no indication” that an investigation has begun, FairSquare said.

According to the Reuters news agency, FIFA told FairSquare that its secretariat may initiate preliminary investigations into a “potential breach of the FIFA Code of Ethics” on instructions from the chairperson of the Investigatory Chamber.

But filing a complaint does not guarantee that ethics proceedings will be opened, while complainants are not parties to proceedings, with no updates or further information available due to confidentiality.

FairSquare launched a public campaign aimed at serious reform of FIFA titled Reboot a week before the World Cup kicked off.

Last week, FairSquare said 50 members of the European Parliament had written to FIFA’s Ethics Committee expressing support for the complaint against Infantino.

The Norwegian Football Federation also formally backed an official complaint, asking the committee to assess whether Infantino violated the governing body’s statutes regarding political neutrality through the award of the Peace Prize and related actions.

More recently at the World Cup, FIFA suspended American striker Folarin Balogun’s red-card ban and cleared him to play in the last-16 tie against Belgium, which the US lost 4-1, after Trump personally urged Infantino to review the case.

However, Infantino denied being involved in the final decision. %!s()

Saibari sustained a hamstring injury in the last-16 match against Canada and has not recovered in time for the crucial knockout match, coach Mohamed Ouahbi said on Wednesday.

“Everyone is 100 percent fit except Saibari. This game comes too soon for him, but I hope he is not out for the rest of the competition,” Ouahbi told reporters ahead of Thursday’s last-eight showdown in Boston.

Saibari, who has just joined Bayern Munich from Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven on a five-year deal for a reported fee of 50 million euros ($57m), has been one of the standout players at this year’s World Cup.

He scored in each of his team’s three group games and converted the winning penalty in the shootout as Morocco beat the Netherlands in the last 32.

However, the attacking midfielder came off early with a hamstring problem in the 3-0 win against Canada in the last 16 last Saturday.

Should Morocco progress, Saibari might make a comeback in the semifinals.

“He’s not ready, but I hope it’s not the end of the tournament for him,” Ouahbi said.

Soufiane Rahimi, who is an out-and-out striker, came on for Saibari in that game and scored Morocco’s third goal.

The Atlas Lions are seeking to avenge their 2-0 defeat against France in the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup.

That was the first time any African or Arab team had reached the last four of the tournament, and their incentive this time is to match that run.

Ouahbi dismissed suggestions that his team can say they have already had a successful tournament by getting to the quarterfinals.

“We absolutely want to win the game tomorrow, so we will not listen to people who say it doesn’t matter if we go out now,” said the coach, who took over from Walid Regragui in March.

“Tomorrow, we will try to get to the semifinals. I don’t like this sentiment that we have already done well and anything else is a bonus,” added Ouahbi, who said he had watched the 2022 meeting of the sides as a fan, on television.

Meanwhile, Morocco’s Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz insisted his side can compete with the much-fancied France as he prepares to come up against Kylian Mbappe, his colleague at club level.

Beavers are famous for their construction skills, building domed lodges and damming rivers with logs. The ponds their dams create can provide important habitat for plants, birds and fish, and their ability to alter ecosystems has given them the title of "ecosystem engineers." Beavers can also be found in estuaries, where the twice-daily ebb of the tides causes water fluctuations and brings in saltwater from the ocean. However, little is known about beaver ecology and behavior in these tidal habitats.

Researchers surveyed North American beaver (Castor canadensis) lodges and dams in tidal wetlands in British Columbia, Washington and Oregon to understand how beavers use river deltas and estuaries. They found that beavers were widespread in these tidal habitats, with an average of 19 dams and 2 lodges per kilometer in surveyed channels of the Snohomish and Skagit rivers. This is more than twice the density of beaver dams previously reported for nontidal river channels.

Detailed measurements of beaver structures revealed that dams in tidal habitats tend to be shorter than those in rivers, meaning that they would usually be flooded at high tide. This suggests that their main function is to trap water at low tides, allowing beavers to move freely through the river system. They may also help block saltwater brought in by the tide. The researchers inspected historic aerial photos on Google Earth dating to 1990 and found that an estuarine beaver dam can remain in place for at least 35 years, spanning multiple generations of beaver.

The study expands the known habitat distribution of beavers and demonstrates that these charismatic creatures can thrive in river estuaries. The density of dams also suggests that they may have a significant ecological impact in these habitats. By creating deep pools of water at low tide, their dams may provide important habitat for threatened species such as Chinook and coho salmon. But more research is needed to understand how conservationists can work with beavers to restore river estuaries in the Pacific Northwest, the authors say.

The author adds, "The conventional view of beaver is that they live exclusively in rivers and lakes. My work shows that beaver are much more adaptable than this. They are also broadly distributed and resident in tidal marshes and swamps of the Pacific Northwest, from at least British Columbia to southern Oregon. So, it would not be surprising if beaver were found in tidal habitats in other regions of North America or Eurasia.

"Now that we know that beaver can be commonly found in tidal wetlands, we also know that there are new questions to ask about beaver ecology in these systems. We have a lot to learn about tidal beaver ecology and how it compares to more conventional river and lake beaver.

"Knowing that beaver are commonly found in tidal marshes and swamps leads to the realization that we need to account for the ecosystem effects of beaver in these systems. Beaver are ecosystem engineers in rivers and lakes, i.e., their dam-building activities have broad effects on other flora and fauna in those ecosystems. So, they are likely to also be ecosystem engineers in tidal ecosystems. Without accounting for beaver in tidal ecosystems, our understanding and management of these systems is likely to be incomplete and flawed."
