The Brian Meehan-trained Grove Street ran a cracker on debut when narrowly edged out by Quest For Stars at Sandown last month. That race is working out particularly well, with Quest For Stars subsequently winning a good edition of the Stonehenge Stakes and the fourth King High subsequently taking a nice novice at Newbury.

Accordingly, Grove Street should take a lot of beating, although Avionics may give him something to think about. Andrew Balding's charge took a big step forward when running a nice race at Salisbury before disappointing at Ffos Las. However, he was clearly far too free to finish off his race that day and could progress further this afternoon if he can settle.

The Wootton Bassett filly La Bassette was given a considerate ride in a good race at Glorious Goodwood so maintains the potential to improve markedly. Of the others, George Boughey's newcomer Talamon is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Fev Rover and could make an encouraging debut if ready to go.

Striker coach Chickelday, who has done one-on-one finishing work with Lankshear for the past two years, is far from surprised. He works with top Premier League players but rates him as the best finisher of the lot. "He has got all the finishes in the book," Chickelday explains.

"He has got the little flicks around the corner, tap-ins, headers, volleys. Just an all-round No 9 and there are not many around at the minute. His finishing is incredible. I tell people and they laugh at me, but this boy is the closest thing I have seen to Harry Kane."

It is a big claim to compare the 21-year-old hopeful to Kane, who has scored more goals for England than any man in history, the reigning holder of the European Golden Shoe. But others see it too and there are parallels in their route, trajectory and attitude.

Like Kane, not all of Lankshear's loan moves away from Spurs were instant hits. A move to West Brom ended without a goal. But things went better on a personal level at Oxford even as the club suffered relegation from the Championship.

"Oxford was a big step for Will. He had gone out on loan before and it had not quite worked out," Matt Bloomfield tells Sky Sports. Bloomfield was the man who took over as head coach of Oxford in January with the club one place off the bottom of the table.

He was soon impressed by Lankshear, the young forward tasked with leading the line for a struggling side. It demanded different qualities from him. "He worked incredibly hard for us, left everything out on the pitch," says Bloomfield. The experience improved him.

"With very limited senior football behind him, he just needed help to round his game off. We were out of possession a lot so it was about being in position when we won it back. We did a lot of work on his hold-up play and being a nuisance when we cleared the ball."

In context, Lankshear's total of 11 goals in the Championship last season was an encouraging effort. "In a team that got relegated, that is some going," says Chickelday. "It is tough when you are down there." At Middlesbrough, he will be able to show more.

"He is in a totally different environment now," agrees Bloomfield. "Middlesbrough will dominate the ball and that will suit him even more with the opportunities that they create. He is born to score goals. He is obsessed. All he wants to do is train and score."

That is where those Kane comparisons return. There is that same laser-like focus on maximising his ability. "He is a lovely lad but he has got an edge to him," says his old boss. "He wants to be successful. All the top players are single-minded and driven."

Bloomfield adds: "He has a massive natural instinct but you can see the hours of practice too. It is the same with Harry Kane and his goals. It is not just natural instinct. These guys are born goalscorers but they also work so incredibly hard at their craft."

The stories from his time at Oxford illustrate this clearly. When training was over, Lankshear wanted to keep going. "He would just stay out there finishing all day. We had to push him back in the building. We had a game the next day and needed his legs."

With that in mind, Bloomfield is not surprised to discover that Lankshear has been working with a one-on-one coach to do those extras. Even Chickelday has become used to the youngster who reached out to him for help doing extras on top of the extras.

"He does not just turn up, do a session and go. He will get there 40 minutes before the session starts, do a warm up and then do the hour with me. Then they will stay for another 25 to 30 minutes doing running after the session. That shows you his mentality."

Lankshear attends these sessions alongside older brother Alex, who scored himself for Gateshead at the weekend. But what does he actually work on? "It is a lot of repetition work, match scenarios. Headers, volleys, finishes from cutbacks. All types of finishes."

Chickelday adds: "Did you see the one that he scored for Oxford from outside the box?" He is referring to the second of Lankshear's goals against Sheffield Wednesday in April. "It was the typical Kane finish where he cuts in and bends the ball into the top corner."

It is a trademark. "He likes to drift out on the left and cut inside. But whatever he can do on his right foot, he can do on his left. That is what gives him that unpredictability when he is finishing as well. He does not mind which way that the defender shows him.

"It is his ruthlessness in front of goal and his consistency in hitting the target. His shots-on-target ratio is phenomenal. In our sessions, he rarely misses the target at all. I am not saying that he is scoring with every single shot but he does work the goalkeeper."

Bloomfield's point about having the dedication to match the talent is key - and the reason why there is such excitement about Lankshear. He can score great goals but there are the near-post runs, the ones where he follows in to capitalise on a fumble.

Among the 72 players in the Championship last season who had 50 shots or more, Lankshear ranked third for expected goals per shot. Even at Oxford, he was getting high-quality chances because of the work that he was putting in. There is more to come too.

"He never gets to take them but he is a really good free-kick taker," says Chickelday. He is convinced there are great things ahead. "Sometimes you come out of the session and you are like, this one is special. You just get that feeling." But can he explain why?

"It is his mentality. He wants to be the best. He wants to be the No 1 striker in England. And then obviously he wants to be the No 1 in the world too. And I really would not be surprised in two years' time if he is Harry Kane's replacement.

"I do not want to talk about moves at the minute because Middlesbrough will probably kill me. He has only been there five minutes. But I think he is two moves away from being a £100m striker if he keeps developing and doing well - and I think he will."

That is for the future. The present is about firing Boro to the Premier League. One way or another, those who know him are certain that is where Will Lankshear is heading. "I have absolutely no doubt about that," adds Bloomfield. "Will is going to the very top." %!s()

Former Australia batsman David Warner has been fined A$1,500 (£787) and ordered to have an interlock device on his car for 12 months after being convicted for drink driving.

Warner was pulled over on the outskirts of Sydney on Easter Sunday when driving from a friend's apartment, where he recorded a blood-alcohol reading of 0.104 - more than twice the legal limit - at a random breath testing site.

The Sydney Thunder captain pleaded guilty to mid-range drink driving last month ahead of sentencing, after admitting to having three glasses of white wine before driving home.

Waverley Local Court heard on Tuesday how Warner stopped his car when he saw the roadside breath-testing ‌site, then attempted to swap seats with a female passenger.

"I accept Mr Warner is unlikely to re-offend," Judge Clare Farnan told the court, in comments published by Australian media. "(But) regrettably, drink-driving is still a significant factor in many crashes in New South Wales."

As well as being fined, Warner will also need to fit an interlock ‌device in his car which will prevent it from starting if it detects alcohol in his system.

Warner played 112 Tests and over 250 limited-overs internationals for Australia before retiring from international cricket in 2024, with the 39-year-old leaving the court without commenting to a large media ‌pack.

He works for Fox Sports Australia as a commentator and continues to play on the franchise circuit, currently captaining Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League and Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash.

Before Farnan's decision, Warner's lawyer told the court his client should be spared conviction because he had suffered extra punishment as a result of media coverage.

"Commercial opportunities (are) being affected," Australian media quoted Mr Awais Ahmad as saying.

Sydney Thunder are part of a New South Wales state government campaign to deter drink-driving, with Cricket New South Wales (NSW) yet to comment on Warner's long-term position as Thunder captain.

"Our organisation is a strong advocate of safe driving, including avoiding drink driving," Cricket NSW said in a statement. "We continue to take this incident seriously, including educating all players on the importance of ‌safe driving." %!s()

President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared a state of disaster following the accident and search and recovery efforts are continuing by divers.

The lake, which straddles the border with Zambia, is one of the world's largest man-made reservoirs, supporting transport and fishing and providing vital hydroelectric power to both countries.

The death toll rose from 44 at the time of the accident to 84 over the weekend, according to police.

Nine more bodies have since been found by divers and a police statement on Tuesday put the death toll at 93, external.

The bodies were now being recovered further away from the scene of the sinking, some of them drifting towards Zambia, the Herald reports.

Provincial Affairs Minister Marian Chombo said 67 people had been rescued after the sinking.

But she added that it was proving difficult to identify some of the recovered bodies - with relatives having to rely on clothes and other items to do so.

"We are running out of time and DNA may now be needed to assist in the identification process," the minister was quoted by the Herald as saying.

The police said 83 of the victims had so far been identified, 39 of whom were children.

A vital and cheap transport link for rural communities, the ferry was carrying parents taking their children home for the school holidays and traders, the Herald said.

One survivor in her 40s told the AFP news agency that the ferry had been particularly overloaded at the time with goods - and passengers had raised concerns about the rough conditions.

"The life jackets were buried under the luggage, and not more than 30 people managed to get them," said Itayi Marumisa, a trader from Mola village.

"Children were screaming and most of the passengers were vomiting, but the captain did not seem to care."

A local councillor representing Mola, Tight Bhusumani, told the Herald it was a difficult time for his community, with children in particular affected.

"We have distressing cases where a child lost both parents and other siblings, leaving them as the only surviving member of the family," he is quoted as saying.

The councillor, who lost a child in the accident, said other families were still awaiting news of those believed to have been on the ferry. %!s()

The 473-hp Carrera S is quicker than the 388-hp Carrera and the Carrera T trims, while still being considerably more approachable than the true performance models in the lineup. Speaking with media at The Quail during Monterey Car Week, Porsche North America CEO Timo Resch explained to Car and Driver why this was the right time to bring back the manual transmission for the Carrera S.

"It's a combination of multiple factors," Resch said. "On one side, it's what we see online, what people write about us, and the kind of comments that we receive. But it's also our direct interaction with customers at events. The third main pillar is also our dealers, because obviously our customers have a close relationship with their Porsche centers."

The automaker is constantly collecting that feedback, as well as evaluating its own history, which included a manual version of the Carrera S in the previous generation. Resch said it took gathering all of that evidence from existing customers and dealers to convince Porsche Germany to greenlight the project, which is a North American exclusive.

The United States actually has an outsized percentage of manual 911 buyers, when compared with global markets, Resch told us. "We told [Porsche Germany] that this is something the customers really want, and the Porsche brand has always been about delivering on what customers want. That's the reason we were able to convince them to do this," he said. The executive also told us that in the U.S., roughly 80 percent of customers order their GT3 Touring with a third pedal. That percentage falls to around 50 percent for the regular GT3, though the CEO confirmed that number is still high when compared with the rest of the world.

Resch also explained that there was a bit of an awkward feeling within the company as more trims switched over to the PDK transmission. On one hand, the PDK offers better performance on the track, along with being a more convenient option for drivers. On the other hand, the manual—at least for many enthusiasts—provides a more engaging experience. For Resch, though, “It's about providing choice to our customers."
