Security upgrades to the White House’s front door come at the behest of the Secret Service and are expected to take until mid-September to complete, CNN reported.

Tarps went up on the White House’s North Portico in the late morning on Thursday, covering scaffolding that has stood for days.

A White House official told CNN the North Portico is “undergoing standard restoration work” to repair stones in the columns, one of several concurrent construction projects taking place at the White House and across Washington.

Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum told podcast host Katie Miller earlier this week the North Portico columns are undergoing repairs, saying the construction should be finished “very quickly.”

“President Trump comes out to greet a world leader, sees door dings in the pillars, and he says, ‘Look at all this stuff that needs to be repaired,’” Burgum told Miller.

Earlier this week, Trump told reporters construction workers have “taken about 150 years of paint off of the columns and re-did them,” saying they were “in very bad shape” and “treated very badly by a lot of presidents."

The Trump administration is planning to build new fencing around the White House and nearby Lafayette Park, the Washington Post reported Friday morning, so pedestrian access can be restricted around the White House if the Secret Service determines there are security risks. The project would first need to be reviewed by the National Capital Planning Commission and the Commission of Fine Arts, the Post reported.

Construction crews began work on a previously unannounced helipad on the White House’s South Lawn last week. Contractor’s records obtained by the Washington Post earlier this week show the White House sped up construction on the $13 million project and added $875,000 to the bill in anticipation of an “upcoming state visit.” The visiting world leader is not named, but the Post reported it is likely referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is expected to visit in September. Trump has also embarked on a controversial project to build a White House ballroom, beginning with the demolition of the East Wing earlier this year. The project is reportedly expected to cost $600 million, more than half of which is coming from taxpayer money, the Washington Post reported.

Salgado Araujo’s killing is the latest in a string of deaths related to immigration enforcement under US President Donald Trump, who has led a mass deportation drive since the start of his second term.

Lawyer Hugo Balderas-Ibarra said all three men in the van with Salgado Araujo reject a Department of Homeland (DHS) statement saying that the father of three “rammed an ICE law enforcement vehicle” and “weaponised his vehicle in an attempt to run over an ICE law enforcement”.

Instead, the three men said there had been no ramming and that the ICE agent had opened fire from the passenger side window.

“After speaking with these three men that were in the vehicle with Lorenzo, I have no doubt that what these ICE agents are saying is completely false,” Balderas-Ibarra said.

“At no point did they ever use the van to ram into the ICE agents, and at no point were these ICE agents’ lives ever in any danger.”

Salgado Araujo and the three men were on their way to a job site when they were stopped by immigration officials. All four were living in the US without documentation, though they were reportedly not ICE’s intended target.

Balderas-Ibarra also recounted the last words of Salgado Araugo.

“Ya me mataron,” he said, using the Spanish phrase for “They’ve already killed me.”

Calls for investigation

Salgado Araujo’s killing has sparked new condemnation of the tactics used by federal immigration agents, who have been accused of excessive violence, racial profiling and bypassing civil rights protections.

His death has also renewed criticism of how Trump administration officials respond to incidents of agent-involved violence.

Critics point out that, in many high-profile cases, top government figures have framed the victims as aggressors.

In January, for instance, immigration enforcement agents shot and killed two US citizens, Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, in separate incidents in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Then-DHS Secretary Kristi Noem quickly described both victims as perpetrating acts of “domestic terrorism”. But evidence in both cases contradicted the officials’ initial accounts, either in part or in whole.

In the case of Good, video appears to show an ICE agent standing in front of her stopped vehicle. She can be seen turning her wheels in an apparent effort to drive around the officer, who opened fire after stepping to the side of her SUV.

In Pretti’s case, footage showed immigration agents wrestling him to the ground as he sought to film them on his phone. An agent is then seen removing a gun from Pretti’s holster, which he was legally allowed to carry, before another officer opens fire and fatally shoots him.

Investigations into both incidents have yielded few answers.

In a separate case, an ICE agent was arrested in May after he faced accusations of making false reports in the non-fatal shooting of Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, a Venezuelan man.

Family and lawmakers have called for an independent probe into the killing of Salgado Araujo, a Mexican national who had lived in the US for 35 years and had no criminal record.

His family, including his three adult sons, said he was in the process of applying for legal status when he was killed.

“He did not deserve to die. He did not deserve to be reduced to a headline of ‘Mexican man shot and killed by ICE’,” his son Ronaldo Salgado said during a news conference this week.

“He deserved to live a quiet life as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a husband, a father and a job creator for dozens of men who also wanted the American dream.”

Google Business Profile owners are seeing a message in their review dashboards that reads “You have no reviews yet,” even when their public listings still show hundreds of reviews.

Complaint threads began to rise in the Google Business Profile Community forum on July 9, as people reported that the reply panel shows zero reviews, while the listing above it displays the public review count.

In one case flagged by Amy Toman, a volunteer Google Product Expert, the listing showed 916 reviews at the top and “no reviews yet” in the reply section directly below.

In the cases reported so far, the public review count has stayed the same even when the dashboard panel shows none. Google hasn’t confirmed the cause, and it isn’t affecting every profile under management.

The Bigger Pattern

This is the second review problem to reach Business Profiles in about a week. Around July 3, people reported a different issue where review counts disappeared from live listings and some profiles were blocked from accepting new reviews.

On that earlier issue, Google confirmed there was a problem. Toman relayed that Google was aware of the missing reviews. On July 9, she posted an update that Google considered that issue resolved and expected the reviews to return, though she suggested allowing a day or two.

Display bug or removal

The two problems look alike but have different causes. A display bug leaves the review in Google’s system but stops it from showing, while a removal takes the review down, often after spam-detection systems flag a profile.

You can tell them apart because a dashboard problem may clear once Google corrects the interface or the data catches up. If reviews are removed from the public listing, the next step is to document what’s missing and contact Business Profile support.

Why This Matters

Reviews really matter when it comes to helping others decide whether to choose your listing over a nearby competitor. If your dashboard appears empty, it might seem like you’ve lost that trust signal, even if your public listing hasn’t changed. Checking the live profile first can help you determine whether it’s just a display issue or there are actually fewer reviews.

Looking Ahead

Google still hasn’t explained what’s causing the current dashboard issue or said when it expects the review panel to return to normal. Until then, you can compare the dashboard against the public listing to confirm whether reviews are missing or only failing to appear in the management interface.

How to redeem Neverness to Everness codes

The option to redeem codes in Neverness to Everness becomes available once you complete the combat tutorial, which is roughly an hour of play if you don't skip the cutscenes. After the protagonist arrives near the Eibon Antique Shop, you have the freedom to explore the city and access the full selection of system menus, including the gacha banners and code redeem menu.

To redeem codes:

1. Open the main menu.
2. Click or tap the three dots next to your character's name.
3. Choose "Redeem Code."
4. Input your code, and select "confirm."
5. Retrieve your items from the in-game mailbox.
