In the Galactic Report during the 2026 Galactic Championship event in Las Vegas, an annual event that brings together competitive and casual players, designers, creators, and collectors, FFG unveiled how it is taking Unlimited to the next level — highlighting the next set for the trading card game: Homeworlds.

Everything we know about Star Wars: Unlimited Homeworlds

Set to launch sometime in October this year, Homeworlds brings forth over 260 new cards that highlight iconic planets, creatures, and communities in a galaxy far, far away. Its Spotlight Decks — pre-made decks, each consisting of 1 leader, base, and 50 cards overall — are Chewbacca and Grand Moff Tarkin.

These leaders come with several new gameplay innovations that expand how players can play, such as Chewbacca's ability, which allows players to use units to attack other units — even if they are already exhausted. However, it's Tarkin who is shaking up Unlimited's gameplay in a galaxy-changing way. Tarkin is a Spotlight Leader that, when brought to the field, is capable of deploying the Death Star and destroying an opponent's base if they have 10 or less health left. If you're a player who likes to play right up until the late game, this leader is going to be a game-changer for you.

Homeworlds also introduces the following:

• Two new token types: Beast and Weakness. While the former allows you to upgrade units, the latter lets you weaken your enemies.
• New keyword, Fortify. For the first time ever, players can upgrade their bases — fundamentally changing gameplay and opening up new strategies.

Future Star Wars: Unlimited sets

Homeworlds isn't the only new set that FFG has in the works for Unlimited. With Homeworlds releasing in October, and Icons 2027 launching in November, FFG still has plenty in the pipeline for both Premier and Twin Sun players, as well as collectors.

No further details were revealed about the specific timeline of each set, nor what they would include gameplay-wise. However, if we had to guess, we would assume Legacy of Skywalker will be following the era of the sequels, System Overload will have a heavy droid focus, even more iconic characters will be introduced in Icons, and a Rebellion versus Empire (or Republic versus Separatist) set for Galaxy at War.

Star Wars: Unlimited future organized play

The Galactic Report also revealed that the organized play program will continue, revealing the following information about season 2.

Ashes of the Empire sector qualifiers will take place at the following locations:

• August 15-16 - Berlin, Germany
• August 22-23, Indianapolis, IN
• September 5-6, Fort Worth, TX
• September 19-20, Turin, Italy

The regional championship will take place on Oct. 30-Nov 1 in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Hold on to your hats, Marvel fans, because Avengers: Doomsday is fast approaching. Now that we’ve seen our first look at Robert Downey, Jr’s Doctor Doom in action in the recent trailer, we know that Marvel is sticking fairly close to the source material for Victor von Doom’s outfit. The Fantastic Four and Avengers nemesis has one of the most iconic supervillain costumes in all of superhero fiction, so it’d be a mistake to reinvent the wheel here. Thankfully, the metal mask, green hood, and flowing cape gives the MCU’s Doom a regal attire worthy of Jack Kirby’s original design for the character.

Now that we have images of the costume on display at SDCC, let’s take a closer look at how Doctor Doom’s MCU costume compares to the comics.

The Man in the Iron Mask

If there’s one aspect of Doctor Doom’s look that simply must be preserved, it’s his signature iron mask. Not only is it his most recognizable visual trait, it’s a critical part of his character. Victor von Doom is one of the most arrogant and egotistical men on the planet, and the damage he incurred to his face because of a botched experiment in college that he blames Reed Richards for is the origin point for their rivalry. How damaged Doom’s face actually is varies by interpretation (Jack Kirby famously believed that Doom only had a small scar), but any imperfection is too much for Doom, who hides his visage behind the metal mask.

As we can see from this comparison between the source material and the MCU costume, Marvel has replicated the design from the comics pretty closely. The shape and texture work is excellent, and the look of the nose and mouth areas hearken back to classic images of Doom from the source material. Also preserved is the green hood over the top of his mask, which is another one of his signature flourishes. An early look at Doom’s costume from the Disney Marketing Expo in Shanghai appeared darker and more washed out, but thankfully that seems to have been the lighting, with the costume on display making it clear that the hood is green.

Stickler for Details

Doom’s comic costume is elegant in its simplicity, but the MCU version has its own take on many of the details. Typically, Doom’s chest area is just covered by a green tunic connected to the hood, laid over his armor and fastened with a brown belt with gold buckle. Those aspects are maintained but with some color variation (looks like a black belt with silver buckle in the film), but the bigger change to the chest area is the addition of what seems to be a samurai-inspired chest plate.

I’m not certain if this was a direct inspiration, but it reminds me of the upgraded armor Doom wore in the 1984 Secret Wars comic after he stole the Beyonder’s power (pictured on the far right above). We also want to point out the gold rondels affixed near the shoulders, which while typically just flat circles in the comics, here have some additional patterning that may be important. The symbols could be mystic runes, which would make sense given that Doom’s mother was a witch and he possesses magic powers in the comics.

We see similar runes on Doom’s gloves, which also have a key difference from the comics. The actual hand portion of the glove in the film version is made of leather instead of full metal gauntlets, which makes sense to let RDJ or his stunt doubles actually grab objects comfortably. There’s also a matching adjustment to the legs, where we see dark green pants on Doom’s upper legs, and the metal portions of his boots only start around the knee area. Again, this change was likely made to make the costume easier to wear on set, since a full metal bodysuit isn’t entirely practical. Still, the overall look feels like classic Doom even with these changes.

How Does the MCU Doom’s Costume Compare to Fox’s Versions?

Looking at the costume on display, it’s clear that Marvel Studios has learned some lessons from 20th Century Fox’s interpretations of Doctor Doom. While the late Julian McMahon’s costumes weren’t terrible, and they did get the mask right, the overall look in the first Tim Story film ultimately felt a bit cheap since he had business wear instead of armor, and the costume in Rise of the Silver Surfer was basically all black instead of green. Worse, the design from the 2015 reboot left poor Toby Kebbell saddled with one of the worst supervillain looks in all of comic book movies: an astronaut suit warped by green energy and grey sludge, making him look like a possessed crash-test dummy. It’s nowhere near what anyone wanted out of the lord of Latveria on the big screen.

It's a shame that most cosplay from fans has so far been better than Hollywood's takes on Doom before now, but we're finally seeing this rectified by the MCU. We can’t say how Doomsday will depict Doom’s personality yet, but at least in terms of visuals, Marvel Studios is on the right track. We’ll see how RDJ’s Doom fares when Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters in December.

Nowacki was fourth going into the turn at 50m but put in a superb second 50m leg to overtake Ramsay-Peaty and the early leader South Africa's Michael Houlie.

"I'm really happy with that swim," Nowacki told BBC Jersey.

"It was just a touch outside my personal best, but it's a true privilege racing Adam, the Aussies and the very best in the world in a senior environment."

The teenager has more chances for medals later in the week as he aims to become the most decorated Jersey athlete at the Commonwealth Games - the highest level islanders can compete at under their own flag.

He will race against mentor and world record-holder Ramsay-Peaty in the 50m breaststroke which starts on Sunday.

Nowacki's best chance of winning gold looks to be in the 200m breaststroke which begins on Tuesday - he is the reigning British champion and is the fastest qualifier for the event.

"It gives me confidence going forwards," he added.

"But it's not given that my 200's going to be great, so it's just about focusing in on the 200 now and the 50 tomorrow.

"I love getting my hand on the wall and top three bringing back some silverware and I'm very happy with that."

Having grown up on an island with about 100,000 inhabitants, Nowacki is rapidly become one of the best breaststrokers in the world.

He left Jersey to train at Millfield School and will move to Loughborough after the Games to continue his swimming as part of Team GB's elite squad preparing for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Nathan Jegou, who coached Nowacki as a youngster and is managing the Jersey swimming team in Glasgow, says he is excited at what the islander can do.

"It's just the start of his journey, and the last two years for him has been phenomenal," he told BBC Jersey.

"I'm excited to see what he does and we're proud that he's one of us.

"We're such a small island, to come here and get a silver medal, it means everything to him, means everything to us, and we hope he can maybe do it again later in the week."

Nowacki becomes just the fifth person to ever win a Commonwealth Games medal while representing Jersey.

The last time Jersey made it onto the podium was in 1990 when Colin Mallett won the island's only gold medal in fullbore shooting, before teaming up with his father Cliff to win pairs bronze.

Four years earlier, bantamweight boxer John Sillitoe won bronze in Edinburgh, while Jersey's first-ever medal was also in the ring when Albert Turmel won welterweight bronze in Perth in 1962.

Islanders have won medals for England - diver Dot Macready won 10m gold in 1934, while more recently Serena Guthrie was part of the England team that won netball gold in 2018.

In 2006 Rebecca Herbert was part of the England hockey team that won bronze, while there were two bronze medals in 2002 for islanders representing England - Elizabeth Cann in badminton and swimmer Simon Militis in the 200m backstroke.

With two more events to go, Nowacki has the chance to equal Colin Mallett as the only islander to win two medals.

For CORTIS, the Record of the Year win is their first Daesang (Grand Prize) of any kind, arriving less than twelve months after their August 2025 debut.

For rookie group CORTIS, whose debut EP COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES entered the Billboard 200 at number 15 in September 2025 and second EP GREENGREEN debuted at number three in May 2026, the award reflects a year of chart performance unusual for a group still in their first twelve months. The win comes the same week CORTIS were confirmed to livestream their LA concerts in cinemas globally on August 13 and 14. Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Keonho also received a Bonsang as part of the Ultimate 12 earlier in the evening.

BTS claimed Album of the Year for ARIRANG — their first group album since all seven members completed their mandatory military service obligations and reunited as a full group. BTS also received a Bonsang as part of the Ultimate 12.

Tomorrow X Together claimed Artist of the Year as well as Best Popular Song for "Stick With You," Best Popular Male Group, and Yeonjun’s Best Popular Solo Male, making them the night’s biggest winners by total award count. TXT debuted their eighth Korean mini album 7th Year: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns in April 2026. Yeonjun also released his solo EP No Labels: Part 01 in November 2025.

Both BTS and TXT also received Bonsangs as part of the Ultimate 12.

HWASA Claims Song Of The Year

HWASA’s "Good Goodbye" took Song of the Year. Born Maria Hwang Hye-jin, HWASA debuted as a member of MAMAMOO in 2014 before launching her solo career in 2019 with “Twit.” "Good Goodbye" is her first Song of the Year win at a major ceremony as a solo artist.
