Achoo! Sorry, my hayfever's been playing up again. Let me just grab a tissue from my Steam Machine... is something you could be saying if you're willing to 3D print the replica this generous individual over on Reddit designed and shared.
… %!s()
The Steam Machine Style Tissue Box Cover (or 'Enclosure') is, practically speaking, just a tissue box. But I'll be damned if I'm not tempted to buy a 3D printer just to make one. It looks very much like a real Steam Machine, sans all the actual gubbins that makes it, well, the real thing.
You can download the 3D files from MakerWorld and have one of your own. The creator Boyso expands: "Default print profiles are meant to be used with a 0.4 mm nozzle and a smooth build plate. Additional print profiles are provided where it prints on its side for textured build plates."
Boyso also explains: "To keep things authentic, I've included two print profiles: 512 GB [or] 2 TB. Just like the real thing... except they're exactly the same. Pick whichever capacity makes you feel faster."
Personally, I'd be going for the 2 TB one—you just never know. Placebo effects are real, after all.
One thing to note, however, is that it might be worth holding off from using the 'textured plate print profiles' given ones reviewer's poor experience with this. The creator has since replied and said they're going to redesign things to avoid the issues they ran into with these specific profiles. So, it seems no matte surfaces on the design until those get fixed.
Provided you're using a working profile and have access to a 3D printer, this project could be a good way to get a faux glimpse of a Steam Machine in your home—lord knows a real one is expensive enough to make it a difficult proposition.
Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.
If you have a Steam Controller, you might even be able to fit a custom faceplate charger onto the tissue box. But I'm getting ahead of myself again—just tissues, for now. Isn't that enough?

Gold jumped roughly 7% last week, logging its best weekly gain since January, driven by a weaker U.S. dollar, falling Treasury yields, and an unexpected contraction in employment data that reduced fears of aggressive Federal Reserve rate hikes.
… %!s()
(Note: the employment data wasn't that bad; layoffs were low, private employment climbed by 30,000, and the data was negatively skewed by the seasonal effect of ~50k fewer government education jobs)
Key Drivers for Gold last week:
Weak U.S. Jobs Data: Softer-than-expected nonfarm payrolls and downward revisions signaled a cooling labor market, prompting investors to seek safety.
Macroeconomic Shifts: Declining Treasury yields and a softer U.S. dollar lowered the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding bullion.
Inflation and Fed Credibility: Some market anxiety over future monetary policy decisions boosts safe-haven demand.
Broader Precious Metals Rally: Strong upward momentum spilled over into silver, platinum, and palladium. Copper remains near the highs.
The People's Bank of China (PBOC) is expanding its gold storage in Hong Kong to support the city's ambition to become a major international bullion-trading hub. This shift accelerates a broader trend of moving sovereign gold reserves back to the region from London and coincides with a 21-month buying streak that added 20 tons in July 2026 alone.
For the moment, gold remains below the 150-day moving average; the more leveraged way to play it — the gold miner ETFs GDX and GDXJ — are bumping up against it.
The key indicator is that Newmont Mining, the largest constituent of the gold miners, has broken through the 150-day moving average. To me, that suggests the others (GDX and GLD) will soon follow.

SPDR Gold Shares (GLD), YTD
From an options traders perspective, gold has a more symmetric "Volatility Smile" - meaning out-of-the-money calls have higher "implied volatility" than at-the-money calls do, which improves the payoff of a long call spread (debit spread) relative to a similar option strategy in the S&P 500.
For example, a November 400/460 call spread in SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) would cost about $16.15, just over 25% of the difference between the strikes (a total of $1,615 as each contract represents 100 shares), providing an upside payoff of almost 3:1 if GLD should rally another 15% over the next 100 days. %!s()

Top Gun's Tom Cruise in infamous flight jacket aviator style
Paramount
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Top Gun, one of the seminal films of the 1980s and the breakout role that established a young Tom Cruise as an action star. While the film itself has remained a classic for its aerial dogfights and high-octane drama, one enduring legacy of the franchise, subtler in its approach but no less impactful, can be found in its wardrobe.
… %!s()
Defined by its military roots, the style of Top Gun is casual, performance-based and as high-adrenaline as the actors who wore it. From Maverick’s G-1 flight jacket to the aviators seen throughout the film, the clothes quickly found their way into menswear references throughout the 80s and into some of today’s most popular menswear brands. It seems that, even four decades on, even if one couldn’t fly like Maverick, Goose or Viper, he could at least dress the part.
The Infamous Flight Jacket
No piece from the film – except perhaps Maverick’s aviators – is more closely tied to its costume design than the pilot jacket. Its leather body, fur collar and squadron patches had been part of naval aviation for decades, but Top Gun introduced the jacket to a new audience. It soon found fans across menswear, hip-hop and Hollywood.
One brand had already built much of its identity around the flight jacket before the film arrived: Avirex. Founded in New York in 1975, the company began by recreating American military styles such as the A-2 and G-1 from original patterns. From the beginning it seems that Avirex wasn’t interested in simple reproductions or jackets that looked like those found in a military surplus store; instead, the brand used higher-quality leather, larger insignia and graphic back panels to give its versions a distinct look.
"Heritage gives a brand credibility, but relevance has to be earned continuously," says Mia Dell'Osso-Caputo, Avirex creative director. "The flight jacket has endured because it combines function, craftsmanship and cultural significance. Our responsibility is to honor that legacy while interpreting it for today's consumer."
MORE FOR YOU
That put Avirex in an ideal position when Top Gun premiered in 1986. Audiences wanted Maverick’s G-1, and the brand was already offering jackets with the same military roots and far more personality than most versions on the market. The film brought the style to a much wider audience, while Avirex had already begun establishing it as fashion.
Movie Hero® CWU-36/P Flight Jacket Z24A103
Cockpit
Cockpit USA grew out of that same business. Originally operating as Avirex’s catalogue and retail arm, The Cockpit had already developed a civilian flight jacket inspired by the Navy’s Fighter Weapons School before Top Gun premiered. Paramount later approached the company to produce licensed jackets through the catalogue, making it one of the first places fans could buy the look for themselves.
When the Avirex trademark was sold in 2008, the original company continued under the Cockpit USA name. Decades later, Cockpit USA supplied jackets for Top Gun: Maverick, extending a company history with the franchise that now spans both films. Across both names, the business helped turn Maverick’s G-1 from a piece of costume design into something men could buy and wear for themselves.
Perfecting Aviation Style
If you are looking to channel a little Maverick this summer and into the transitional months ahead, adding a flight jacket to your wardrobe is easier than you’d think. Given the bold look of a patched Avirex A-2, keeping everything else simple helps balance the outfit and stays close to the style established in Top Gun – think white t-shirt, neutral-colored chinos or a straight-fit denim jean.
VINTAGE FLIGHT A2 JACKET
Avirex
For some guys, though, a flight jacket might be a bit too bold for your wardrobes. Luckily, many brands on the market have used this as a jumping-off point to inspire their own collections. Brands like Billy Reid, Officine Générale and Sandro each offer more contemporary interpretations, with softer leather, less bulk and details that reflect the personality of the individual brand. Schott, popular for its moto-style jackets, has an A-1 style that is popular among menswear and military enthusiasts alike. As with any of these options, choice largely depends on how faithful you want to be to the jackets of the film and your personal budget (to this effect, Express’s faux-suede flight jacket is a great wallet-friendly option).
If we’re still too deep into Summer to be thinking of outerwear, you can still bring in a little of Maverick’s style through your choice of accessories. Aviator sunglasses are the easiest way to incorporate a bit of Cruise’s swagger into your closet, particularly from brands such as Randolph USA and Ray-Ban, which stay close to the frames worn in the film. If you’re looking for a more contemporary option, CHIMI, Barton Perreira, Garrett Leight and RAEN all offer reinterpretations and modern upgrades to the otherwise classic style.
For a finishing touch, consider a pilot watch to complete your look. IWC’s assortment of pilot watches, particularly their TOP GUN collection, draws directly from naval aviation, while brands like Porsche Design were used by the wardrobe department for Cruise himself in the latest Top Gun film. For everyday options with a more budget-friendly price tag, Vaer’s C5 Recon Field Solar and British brand Farer’s pilot series are great places to start.
Forty Years Later
Forty years after Top Gun opened, its influence can still be found across menswear. From the flight jacket to aviator sunglasses, the movie’s mark on menswear put a focus back on military style, and has continuously been reinterpreted throughout the years. With a third film now in the works, we’re sure to continue seeing the pared-down, stylized wardrobe of Maverick, Iceman, and Rooster be the inspiration for men’s style.
