Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed another major milestone: The newest Spider-Man film has grossed more than $2 billion at the global box office in less than three weeks. It's the second-fastest film to hit that mark, just after another Marvel Studios movie, Avengers: Endgame, and one of just eight films to gross $2 billion.

Since its July 31 premiere, Brand New Day has grossed $785 million in the U.S. and $1.236 billion internationally, according to Box Office Mojo. Brand New Day hit $1 billion just six days after release.

With its latest milestone, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now part of an elite group, joining James Cameron's Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Ne Zha 2, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Titanic. The original Avatar remains the highest grossing of that group, with a $2.9 billion haul.

The previous Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, came close to hitting $2 billion, but ended its theatrical run with $1.9 billion back in 2019. No Way Home, notably, was not released in China, which likely would have helped push it over the $2 billion threshold.

Brand New Day opened to a massive $360 million domestic haul, giving it the biggest opening weekend ever in the United States. The film's $927 million global opening is the second-highest of all time, behind Avengers: Endgame's $1.22 billion. Brand New Day got a second-week boost thanks to an IMAX release, and the film has broken multiple records since.

This pair of successful movies is a needed win for Disney, which recently suffered box office misfires like the live-action Moana remake and Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time in the United States, just behind No Way Home. The newest live-action Spider-Man is on track to quickly surpass its predecessor, and could ultimately surpass Endgame's domestic haul before the end of its theatrical run. Brand New Day still has a way to go to hit No. 1 at the domestic box office. That record is currently held by The Force Awakens, which has grossed $936 million in the U.S. %!s()

The talks aim to salvage the plan for Hamas to disarm and Israel to withdraw from the Palestinian territory shattered by war.

At stake are the lives of some 2 million people in Gaza and reconstruction of the crowded enclave now largely controlled by Israeli forces, more than 10 months since the ceasefire ended major military operations. A meeting between Kushner, fellow envoy Steve Witkoff and Hamas leaders in Egypt last year helped clinch the ceasefire, whose progress until now had been stalled over the key issue of Hamas’s disarmament.

The over two-hour meeting in Egypt with Hamas’s political chief, Khalil al-Hayya, was confirmed by a regional official and a Hamas official, both speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to reporters. Kushner was one of a trio of envoys meeting with al-Hayya, with officials from mediating countries Egypt, Qatar and Turkey also there.

Hamas in a statement later called on mediators and the US-created Board of Peace overseeing the ceasefire to “compel” Israel to approve the road map for next steps.

Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, last week rejected the 15-point plan in a rare public show of defiance against the Trump administration, Israel’s closest ally.

Kushner; Tony Blair, the former British prime minister; and Nickolay Mladenov, the Board of Peace director, are to meet with Netanyahu on Monday, according to a source familiar with the plans and a diplomatic source. Both spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a closed-door meeting.

Several regional powers including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s rejection of the road map, saying: “Israel now bears responsibility for obstructing the efforts to bring peace in Gaza.” Other signers included Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia and the ceasefire mediators.

The foreign ministers’ statement called on the Board of Peace and the US to take “immediate and concrete measures” to keep any party from obstructing the plan’s implementation.

Kushner’s meeting with the Hamas leader aimed at ensuring the militant group’s commitment to the road map, particularly disarmament, before his meeting with Netanyahu, the regional official said.

The Hamas official said the group is committed and waiting for mediators to start the 14-day negotiation period to work out a timetable for implementation. That period requires all parties’ approval of the road map to begin.

The Hamas official also said the Hamas leader demanded that Israel halt its attacks on Gaza and withdraw to the so-called “yellow line” dividing the territory before beginning implementation. The yellow line was never precisely defined. Israeli forces have moved beyond it and now control about 60% of Gaza.

In May, Netanyahu said the next step was to move to 70% control, with Israel “tightening the grip” on Hamas “from every direction”.

Israel has killed more than 1,200 Palestinians in Gaza, and wounded more than 4,100 since agreeing to the ceasefire on 10 October 2025, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

The White House referred questions about Kushner’s meetings to the Board of Peace, which did not immediately comment. The Tony Blair Institute did not comment.

Under the road map, Hamas would hand over weapons to the Palestinian technocratic committee meant to oversee daily operations in the territory. The committee has not yet entered Gaza. But Hamas has linked the surrender of its heaviest weapons to the creation of a Palestinian state, something Israel’s current government rejects.

The road map involves Hamas gradually giving up its weapons while Israeli forces halt attacks and begin withdrawing from Gaza. But Netanyahu says Israel will not retreat from any position in Gaza until Hamas has been completely disarmed.

That stance leaves other elements of the ceasefire on hold, including reconstruction and the deployment of international forces to separate Israeli forces from committee-controlled areas.

Netanyahu faces a challenging election on 27 October as he tries to hold on to power with a coalition that includes ministers taking a harsh line on Gaza, and it’s not clear whether he will take decisive steps on the ceasefire before then. Also coming up is the three-year anniversary of the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October.

Netanyahu’s Likud party on Sunday responded to the statement by regional powers by claiming “Arab states want to topple” Netanyahu so that centrist challenger Gadi Eisenkot and center-left party leader Yair Golan “will give them everything they want. That will not happen.”

How to Enable Anti-Theft Features On Android?

The primary settings to look for are under Google's Theft Protection menu. Settings menus aren't universal with Android phones, so there may be a degree of variation between devices. For Samsung users, the order is typically Settings → Security and Privacy → Lost Device Protection → Theft Protection.

Google Pixel phones are similar, but slightly different: Settings → Security & Privacy → Device Unlock → Theft Protection. The most prominent feature is Theft Detection Lock, and it's best to start there. This uses motion and sudden disconnection indicators (like your phone being snatched and moved quickly) to lock down your phone screen automatically. After you turn it on and confirm, your device will now respond to aggressive or sudden movement.

Next, enable Offline Device Lock so your screen stays protected if a thief disables your mobile data or Wi-Fi by switching Airplane Mode on. The lock will kick in shortly after disconnect and doesn't require a local connection to do so. Last but not least, set up Remote Lock. This lets you lock your phone from anywhere by visiting android.com/lock, entering your phone number and following the prompts. Google's Find Hub app is no longer your sole fallback option, and Remote Lock works even if the thief moves the phone to another network.

How Can You Prevent Thieves from Turning Off Your Device?

You'll never fully take advantage of the Theft Protection features if you don't use a PIN, biometrics and a more complicated password than your first name. Besides, Google explicitly requires a screen lock for Identity Check and other device-protection tools, so you may as well set it up properly. On Pixels and newer Android phones, Identity Check can periodically re-verify using your biometrics or PIN, especially when you're off your regular beaten path and away from work or home.

Enable Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock so your phone auto-locks and remains that way, even if the thief yanks it offline. If they try to power it down or keep it in Airplane Mode, your data remains secure behind the screen lock, completely shielded. On Samsung Galaxy phones, there is a dedicated Theft Protection page that ties into Samsung's own lost-device tools as well.

Alas, after months of rumors, OnePlus confirmed its exit out of North America and Europe in July. Most of OnePlus' catalog is currently out of stock on its website, but you can still shop for its phones and audio accessories through other retailers like Amazon. The question, however, is should you buy a new OnePlus device now that the company has ceased operations in the US? For most buyers, the answer is probably a no.

Although OnePlus has promised that software and after-sales support for existing OnePlus devices will continue, the company is making a big change to how future software updates will be handled. Longtime OnePlus users will know just how essential OxygenOS has been to the brand's identity, and if they're not getting the software experience they signed up for, it becomes harder to justify buying into an ecosystem that has no future.

Easily OnePlus' greatest strength (besides its lineup of overkill smartphones) was the software experience its users got to enjoy. The OnePlus One debuted with CyanogenMod, which was a very community-driven version of Android. The company then made the jump to its own flavor of the operating system, OxygenOS. It was known to offer a clean experience while packing in a ton of customizability. In every review you'll come across of a OnePlus smartphone, you are almost guaranteed to see the reviewer sing praises of how snappy and feature-rich OxygenOS is.

Well, that's changing. Although OnePlus isn't dropping support for the phones it has sold in the US, users who wish to experience newer versions of Android are expected to make the switch to ColorOS — the same software interface that Oppo smartphones use. Users have, understandably, expressed frustration with this decision. However, if you've picked up an Oppo smartphone recently and put it next to your OnePlus device, you'll realize that OxygenOS and ColorOS are darn near identical at this point.

They've been sharing the same codebase since 2021, so there really isn't anything you'll be missing out on by making the switch. Oppo's ColorOS does pack in a bit of bloatware compared to OxygenOS, and it would be sad to see if OnePlus drops the few Easter eggs that helped set its version of Android apart.
