Dolly Parton Gets New Hollywood Walk of Fame Star After Original Was Vandalized Following Her Death
tags:Dolly Parton‘s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been replaced after the original one was vandalized following the country superstar’s death. Parton died of cancer on Aug. 25 at age 80.
The star, which Parton received in 1984, is located at 6712 Hollywood Boulevard, and already had a crack along it before it was vandalized. As of Friday, Parton’s star is now fully restored and viewable.
In a statement to Variety, Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame Producer said, “Our Dolly is back! Hollywood is thrilled that her star is back in pristine condition for fans to enjoy forever. “
The outpouring of support for Parton has been immense. Earlier this week, her estate announced the first large public programs honoring the life and music of the late superstar, with events titled “DollyFest: The Celebration of a Lifetime” set to take place in Nashville and London on successive weekends in 2027.
Later this year, Dolly Parton’s “Dolly: A True Original Musical” is set to open on Broadway “as was Dolly’s wish.”
In a statement to Variety, the producers confirmed, “As was Dolly’s wish, the Broadway production of ‘Dolly: A True Original Musical’ will begin previews Dec. 7 at the St. James Theatre in New York City with opening set for Jan. 19, 2027, what would have been her 81st birthday.”
The musical will tell the life story of the country-pop superstar.
Her music has also seen significant surges on Spotify. Following her death, total streams increased over 1,260% globally and 2,320% in the United States compared to the prior seven-day daily average.
The country icon saw substantial boosts across her catalog after her death was announced. “Jolene” increased 630% globally and 1,225% in the U.S., compared to the prior seven-day daily average, while “9 to 5” increased 620% globally and 1,030% in the U.S. and “Islands in the Stream” increased 525% globally and 1,235% in the United States. “Jolene” was the most-shared Parton song on Spotify, followed by “I Will Always Love You” and “Islands in the Stream.”
