Best Buy’s Techtober Sale Is Live with Big Discounts on PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Games—and Unlike Prime Day, Deals Aren't Locked Behind a Membership

Best Buy has launched its Techtober sale, a direct competitor to Amazon's latest Prime-exclusive sale, Prime Big Deal Days. Techtober is running until October 11 and includes plenty of deals and discounts on, you guessed it, Tech, video games, home appliances, and more.

There are some fairly standout offers up for grabs, so I'll leave a few of my favorite picks just below. Otherwise, feel free to take a look and browse the full sale yourself.

Highlights for me, of course, are the decent variety of video games included in the new sale. Standouts include the critically acclaimed Star Wars: Zero Company for both PS5 and Xbox. It's down to $47.99, $12 off its list price, and its first discount since launch.

There's also LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Night, down to $59.99, and $10 off for both PS5 and Xbox. That's alongside Battlefield 6, a gaming highlight from last year, down to just $34.99, which is a pretty excellent deal!

Obviously, Best Buy is also highlighting the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle in the sale, even if it isn't technically a sale item. You can save $37.97 if you buy this bundle, versus buying the console and game separately. It's certainly not as good as the bundle deal we saw for the Switch 2 at launch, but considering the price of those bad boys has gone up this year (along with everything else, am I right?), it's still not a bad offering and worth calling out nonetheless.

XBOX Series X 1TB Digital Console Bundle

Save $150

XBOX Series X 1TB Digital Console Bundle

All-Digital Console (Disc-Free Gaming) with XBOX Wireless Controller and Gears of War E-Day.

Another interesting offer, albeit significantly more expensive than everything else I've mentioned, is the Gears of War E-Day Xbox Series X bundle that's up for grabs. It's listed for $819.97, and includes a 1TB Xbox Series X digital console (MSRP $749.99), a digital copy of Gears of War E-Day (MSRP $69.99), and a slick transparent red Xbox Elite Series 2 controller (MSRP $149.99).

Overall savings are $150, and while it's not a bad deal, it's still expensive and probably only going to appeal to a select few. At $820, this will be a tough ask for a lot of us, and while I'm cautious to give any kind of financial advice, Best Buy does offer the option to pay over 12 months at $68.34/mo as well, just so you are aware.

Overall, the bundle is worth considering if you are okay with digital-only gaming (especially with Xbox allowing you to digitise your game discs now), and are looking for a way to play GTA 6 and the critically acclaimed Gears of War E-Day.

Prime Day vs. Techtober Sale

All the big US retailers like to go toe-to-toe during massive sale seasons (like the one we are in now, which will continue all the way through to New Year's Day 2027), and Best Buy is no different.

But what are the major differences between the two sales, and is it worth shopping one over the other?

Well, for starters, Best Buy's sale isn't locked behind a membership. While there are still some specific deals that are exclusive to Best Buy's premium membership, the vast majority of deals are not.

Additionally, Best Buy's sale is running until October 11, while Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale starts October 6 and runs through 11:59 PM on October 7. So, Best Buy's sale is significantly longer and will give you a bit more opportunity to shop around or make a decision on your purchases.
