'The Last Taxi' quest walkthrough in Control Resonant

To complete "The Last Taxi" quest in Control Resonant, you'll need to find a taxi in every zone, answer the payphone, and solve the puzzle inside. You can complete the taxis in any order. The story involving Mila will progress as you escape more thresholds, but the puzzles are unique to each zone.

To find more taxis, listen for any car horns. The taxi will incessantly honk at you if you're in the area, especially if you try to walk away from it. After you enter the taxi, make sure to interact with the payphone in the alleyway. For the puzzles inside, most can be solved by finding the odd one out, like the "Pattern Break" world feat. However, the specific taxi car that you need to enter might not be in the same location, so you'll need to find the pattern and choose the correct car.

Below, we explain where to find every taxi in Control Resonant and how to solve their puzzles.

Central taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in Central can be found in the northwesternmost alleyway. Head west across the rooftops from the Patterned Factory, and you'll run into it in no time. When you get inside, make sure to interact with the payphone to learn about Mila, a woman who is trapped inside this threshold.

This threshold's puzzle involves finding the different taxi cab:

1. Enter the car that has its rear lights on.
2. Enter the car that has its taxi light on.
3. The eight cars are split into two groups of four: one group has its headlights on and rear lights off, while the other has headlights off and rear lights on. Enter the car that has both headlights and rear lights on.

West Incursion Zone taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in the West Incursion Zone is located just beside the Empire Avenue Station entrance, but you'll need Shift from the Parking Garage Fault to get to it. The easiest way to reach this taxi is to backtrack from the "Empire Avenue" fast travel door. Head back through the station and turn left at the first turn. You'll find the taxi on the wall just next to the Empire theater.

To solve this taxi's puzzle, you need to pay close attention to the streetlights:

1. Enter the taxi with a streetlight blinking above it.
2. Enter the taxi that doesn't have a streetlight blinking above it.
3. Enter the taxi whose streetlight is turning on at a different interval than the others.

Evacuation Zone taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in the Evacuation Zone is found at the end of an alleyway just northeast of the "Unauthorized mines?" label on the map. Head into the alley, but make sure to go east rather than west, and you'll find the taxi.

For this puzzle, you need to find the taxi whose lights differ from the others:

1. Enter the taxi whose taxi light turns on at a different interval than the others.
2. Enter the taxi whose lights blink twice.
3. Enter the taxi whose lights don't turn on at all.

Downtown taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

Downtown is the first zone that you visit, but you won't be able to reach its taxi without Reach, which is unlocked from the Subway Fault in the Evacuation Zone. Once you have Reach, head to Lookout Point on the east side of Downtown, and use Reach to get to the easternmost region. Then, immediately head north to find the taxi parked amongst a bunch of other cars.

For Downtown's taxi cab, you must spot the different taxi cab:

1. Find the taxi cab with its taxi light on.
2. Find the taxi cab whose taxi light stays on when you're nearby.
3. Find the taxi cab whose taxi light turns on when you're near a different car.

The Park taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in The Park is found in the same parking garage as the vendor, but it's just one floor below the ice cream truck. From the vendor, head south to find a hole full of mold. Drop into it, and you'll find a path leading to the second-highest floor of the parking garage. Follow it and you'll find the taxi waiting for you. As always, make sure to interact with the phone first and then make your way over to the puzzle.

For this puzzle, you need to fix the broken taxi. Its parts might be covered in mold growth, so make sure to destroy them all. Additionally, make sure you're using parts that fit the yellow taxi.

1. Destroy the mold and reattach the car parts onto the taxi.
2. Attach the tires and the yellow car hood to the taxi.
3. Attach everything, but don't attach the police siren and white car trunk.

Underpass taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in the Underpass is located across the chasm, so you'll need to progress in the "Recursions and Iterations" quest until you ride the cable car. In the next large area that is full of moldy enemies, head to the northeast corner where you'll find the taxi on an elevated platform.

To solve this puzzle, you'll need to pay close attention to the streetlights and their effect on the taxi cabs:

1. Wait for the streetlights to turn off and find the taxi cab whose lights stay on.
2. Wait for the streetlights to turn off and find the taxi cab whose lights turn off.
3. Find the taxi cab that has no lights on when the streetlights are on.

Unknown taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in the Unknown zone can be found on the same island as the Evac Building, which is the southernmost building when looking at the map. When you're facing the Evac Building, go to its right and you'll find the taxi cab.

For this puzzle, you'll need to shine the light on the taxi cabs and pay close attention to their shadows. All three puzzles have the same solution in this one: find the taxi cab whose shadow is actually a taxi cab.

After you've found every taxi and solved all of their puzzles, you'll finish the quest and earn no rewards. Hooray! If you're looking to get the "Threshold Researcher" achievement, you've completed one of the three requirements:
