Asked if he'd ever given any thought to a video game adaptation of his work, Sanderson said:

"As a lifelong gamer, suffice it to say that yes, I've thought about this a lot.

"The key will be the right partner. Video games, even the smaller indie games, are huge investments these days.

"Mistborn would almost certainly be the first thing I would try, as the mechanics of the magic and world very naturally lend themselves to such an adaptation – but again, I'd need the right partner."

So it doesn't sound like we'll be getting a Mistborn game anytime soon, but it's certainly on the cards for the distant future after Sanderson's recent comments.

This wouldn't be the first time Mistborn stepped out into other mediums either, with the Mistborn film adaptation in the works after Sanderson recently finished the screenplay (but also saying there's "still a lot of work to do"), alongside board games, and the recently released Cosmere RPG tabletop series that's soon getting a Mistborn expansion in November.

Developed by Brotherwise Games in close collaboration with Brandon Sanderson himself, the initial offerings for the Cosmere RPG focus solely on Roshar and the systems of the Stormlight Archive books. Now, Mistborn is joining the ranks with its Handbook, Campaign Guide, and Welcome to Scadriel guide which are all available to preorder now.

It's not a stretch to say that Mistborn could make for an exceptional RPG, akin to something like Baldur's Gate 3. Moreover, Brotherwise Games has already done much of the groundwork with its impressive tabletop adaptation. There's clearly plenty there that could be built upon or adapted into a video game in the future.

For those who aren’t familiar with Mistborn, the Cosmere or Sanderson’s work in general, the Cosmere is a large galaxy-spanning, progressively more interconnected series of (mostly) epic fantasy novels by Brandon Sanderson. We have a comprehensive reading guide, so to find out more and get a better picture, and I suggest you head there and take a look.

Nottinghamshire (3 pts) lead Sussex (6 pts) by 31 runs

Match scorecard

Sussex's Ari Karvelas took four wickets either side of tea to leave Nottinghamshire's chances of retaining their County Championship title hanging by a thread.

The 32-year-old answered an SOS from his old county last month and delayed taking up a new job teaching cricket at Solihull School.

And it looked like a good decision during a spell of 3-17 from 10 overs which included the in-form Joe Clarke for the second time in the match.

Karvelas finished with 4-34 and Nottinghamshire closed on 149-7 - a lead of just 31 - after Jaydev Unadkat collected three late wickets in 14 balls.

Until Karvelas came back into the attack, Nottinghamshire had enjoyed a period of superiority for the first time in the game.

They picked up a third bowling bonus point from the last available ball in running through Sussex's last four wickets for just eight runs in 23 deliveries to keep their first-innings deficit down to 118.

The loss of 36 overs to rain before lunch did not help their efforts to keep the pressure on leaders Warwickshire, who had their feet up after beating Essex in two days.

Similarly, a win for Sussex gives them a great chance of a top-three finish and Karvelas, challenging both edges of the bat and finding bounce from the Cromwell Road end that has eluded the other seamers in this match, has certainly boosted their hopes.

Nottinghamshire had no choice but to start their second innings positively and openers Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater serenely added 52 but there was nothing Slater could do when Karvelas got one to lift alarmingly off a good length and wicketkeeper John Simpson did the rest.

Hameed was reprieved on 23 when George Thomas put down a straightforward chance at backward point off Sean Hunt.

But Hunt and Tom Price built pressure before Karvelas returned to make the key incisions.

Hameed cut to gully on 43 and Karvelas' ability to find extra bounce was evident again when Clarke edged to second slip off the shoulder of the bat - Karvelas' 100th first-class wicket.

Freddie McCann became his fourth victim courtesy of a fine diving catch by Simpson off an expansive drive with Notts still in arrears and when Karvelas came off there was no respite.

His replacement Unadkat struck with his first ball which Jack Haynes wafted to backward point before he took out Olly Stone's middle and leg stumps in his next over.

Simpson then dived full length to his right to take another superb catch off Liam Patterson-White's inside edge.

Earlier, it had been a decent effort by Nottinghamshire's bowlers to make relatively short work of the Sussex tail when play started at 13:30 BST, especially as Price and Jack Carson, who both made half-centuries, had extended their seventh-wicket stand to 92 in 25 overs.

Price's 72 contained nine fours and looked good for a few more when he tried to run Stone off the bat face to third man but edged to first slip.

Carson hit nine fours in his 53 but in trying to steer Brett Hutton into the leg side he got a leading edge to point.

There were extended celebrations when Notts struck with the final ball of the 110th over to claim the ninth wicket and a third bowling point when Karvelas drove Hutton to mid-on where Hameed took a good low catch.

In the next over, left-arm spinner Patterson-White got one to turn sharply off a middle-stump line and bowl Unadkat.

Hutton finished with 4-59 but his side are up against it going into the final day.

Worcestershire 458: Hose 105, D'Oliveira 82, Taylor 61, Libby 55; Stokes 6-94

Durham (6 pts) lead Worcestershire (4 pts) by 178 runs with four second-innings wickets intact

Match scorecard

Worcestershire seem well-placed to inflict a first defeat of the season on promoted Durham after their seamers took six wickets in the evening session at Chester-le-Street.

After Adam Hose had completed an invaluable century to help his team reach 448, in reply to Durham's 465, the Pears then reduced their hosts to 119-6, only for Ollie Robinson and Kasey Aldridge to put on 42 late in the day to leave the Division Two champions with a lead of 178.

The star of the evening session was 22-year-old debutant George O'Connor, from Oxfordshire, who was making his first-class debut as a substitute for Ben Gibbon.

After bowling India's Mayank Agarwal cheaply in his first spell, he topped it by having ex-England captain Ben Stokes caught on the cover boundary for 12.

In the morning session, Worcestershire lost two wickets but saved the follow-on with ease to reach lunch on 376-7, just 89 in arrears, thanks to Hose bringing up his first century of the season.

Both Durham wickets were taken by Stokes, who had Henry Cullen caught at slip before dismissing Hose.

Tom Taylor and Matthew Waite put on 85 in untroubled fashion either side of lunch.

But, after Waite was leg-before to Ben Raine for 28, Taylor reached his first fifty of the season before Stokes dismissed him, also leg-before, for 61 to earn his first five-wicket haul in first-class cricket at Chester-le-Street since 2014.

Stokes then completed his best bowling figures in nine years when he had Pears substitute Fateh Singh - on for Usama Mir - caught at long leg by Will Rhodes for 26.

In the fourth over after tea, the Pears broke through when Waite bowled Ben McKinney for 38 with a ball before removing Alex Lees' off stump off another grubber.

But the highlight came in O'Connor's sixth over from the Finchale End when he knocked out Agarwal's off stump.

Ackermann played around a ball from Ben Allison and was leg-before and Warwickshire old boy Will Rhodes lost his off stump to Taylor on 25.

Stokes then came down the pitch and attempted to hit debutant O'Connor over the off-side field, only to sky a catch to Dan Lategan.

But Aldridge (25*) and Robinson (19*) flayed seven boundaries between them to ensure no further damage on 161-6.

The upcoming fantasy blockbuster directed by Barbie's Greta Gerwig will be exclusive to theaters from its release on February 12, with IMAX previews beginning on February 10, before hitting Netflix on April 2.

“I wanted a rock opera. I wanted it to be big and transporting,” Gerwig said in an interview with Empire to discuss the “ground-up retelling” of C. S. Lewis’ stories. The movie does not adapt the much-loved classic The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, but the Narnia origin story. It isn’t set in the early 1900s, but post-war ‘50s Britain.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is not a musical, but it is inspired by rock opera, in particular British rock from the ‘60s and ‘70s. So, expect lots of Bowie-style glam.

“Narnia is literally a world made out of music,” Gerwig said. “It is a world sung to life by Aslan, and rock ’n’ roll to me felt like a world made out of music.”

Meanwhile, Netflix released a first-look at Aslan, the powerful cosmic lion who sings Narnia into existence with his magnificent song. Gerwig’s take on Aslan is directly inspired by Bowie’s most famous character, Ziggy Stardust, complete with heterochromic eyes and a red-striped visage. He’s voiced by Meryl Streep.

“I wanted someone who was profound but not pretentious, who had gravitas but not morose self-seriousness,” Gerwig said. “Someone who could communicate depth and pathos as well as joy and delight. I wanted someone who was older than 70, so there was a wisdom of experience, but who also had the capacity of fresh wonder, like a child. And also to be one of the greatest actors to ever do it. That list is not a long one.”

The Magician's Nephew is chronologically the first book in C. S. Lewis' beloved Narnia series, though most adaptations to date have begun with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe — the first Narnia story published, and by far the most famous. Indeed, The Magician's Nephew has never been adapted for the screen until now.

Clearly, though, Netflix hopes that this fresh entry point into the franchise will be a successful start to its plans for the series, with an all-star cast and years of work to bring the story to life. Carey Mulligan, Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, Ciarán Hinds and the aforementioned Meryl Streep all feature in the film, with its young leads played by newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell.

The feature follows Myles (Butterfield) into a “spectacularly dysfunctional introduction to his girlfriend’s family,” a plot synopsis reads. “A shotgun fired at a birthday cake, a voyeuristic mother, a seductive sister, a disarmingly decent ex-boyfriend, way too much booze and nowhere near enough boundaries. What starts as an awkward introduction quickly becomes a test of just how far Myles is willing to go for the woman he loves.”

Written by Ira Steven Behr (Outlander), Happy marks Lynch’s second feature as director, following his 2017 debut Lucky with Harry Dean Stanton and David Lynch.

“Wyatt is such a perfect fit for Roger — his insight on the role is so exciting,” said Lynch on Thursday. “He has such passion for the project and the part. We couldn’t be happier to have him.”

The film is set to begin principal photography in March, 2027 in the U.S.

Russell comes to Happy amid a run of high-profile projects. He reprised his MCU role as John Walker/U.S. Agent in the recent blockbuster Thunderbolts* and is set to return in the hotly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. He became a central figure in Apple and Legendary’s MonsterVerse through Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, with other credits including Black Mirror and Broke. Most recently, he appeared opposite Emily Blunt in Steven Spielberg’s alien thriller Disclosure Day. Russell is also currently filming Birdwatcher, a Monarch spinoff centered on his character, Lee Shaw.

Happy is produced by Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady of BCDF Pictures (To Leslie, The Hating Game), alongside Richard Kahan and Behr. Embankment is handling global sales.

“Wyatt joining Happy is hugely exciting for us. He has such a distinctive presence — funny, charismatic and completely authentic — and we couldn’t be more excited to see him alongside this remarkable cast in John’s hands,” said producer Claude Dal Farra.

Russell is repped by UTA. Butterfield is repped by CAA and Independent Talent Group. Strong is repped by WME and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin. Sedgwick is repped by CAA and Range Media Partners. O’Grady is repped by CAA and Suskin/Karshan. Harrison is repped by UTA and 3 Arts. Lynch is repped by Suskin/Karshan. Behr is repped by Untitled. %!s()
