The 500e really has been a perfect, if not especially exciting, car for me. It's the right size, I love the color, and the ladies have all been big fans. The problem is, there's been a motorcycle-shaped hole in my heart that no car could ever hope to fill. I may be a Fiat 500e guy, but I'm also a motorcycle guy, and finding the right bike has been tough. I love design, but more than anything, I wanted a bike that offered a truly unique riding experience. Something different. Something special.

After close to a year of searching I finally found it, and right in time for fall, too. As you may have guessed from the photo, I'm now the proud owner of a 2019 Husqvarna Svartpilen 701. Because of course that's what I bought. No matter how many Ducatis, Hondas, Moto Guzzis, or MV Agustas I considered, my heart always knew what it really wanted was a naked pseudo-scrambler with a giant dirtbike engine. And now it's mine for as long as I choose to keep it.

Thump, thump

Could I have saved a little money and bought a Svartpilen 401? Absolutely. Could I afford the larger, more powerful Svartpilen 801? Probably. But I didn't want the 401 or the 801. The 401 might be the best beginner bike anyone can buy, and the 801 might be a perfect motorcycle, but the 701 has the one thing I really wanted: 693 cc of displacement in the form of a single cylinder. The 801 might be "better," but when your heart yearns for a thumper, only a thumper will do. 

When a 2019 Svartpilen 701 popped up for sale about an hour away, it was basically a done deal. A little less than 4,000 miles, $4,500 out the door, and one of the best designs I think I've ever seen. In fact, I'm still not entirely sure how I'm legally allowed to own something this nice. Bikes like this are for better people with more money, not someone like me. And yet, here we are. I have the keys, the title, and the bike, and I've basically been riding it all weekend. As you should when you've just bought a new (to you) motorcycle.

It's only been a couple of days, but I can already tell you for a fact that this thing is fun. The seat is firm, my butt is sore, the suspension is far from cushy, I hate most of the mods the previous owner chose, but my god do I love riding this thing. Oh, and so far, I'm averaging something like 60 mpg. Cheap, special, fun, and fuel efficient? Sign me up! Wait, I already did that. 

First things first, that exhaust has to go. I don't know which one I'm going to replace it with yet, but it's cheap and tacky, and I hate it. OK maybe that's a little harsh, but it's also true. As much as I love the bike, I hate the way the exhaust looks, and I hate the way it sounds. The real problem is that, since every possible alternative should sound better, I may have a hard time deciding. If you have suggestions, I'm happy to hear them. Unless it gets stolen, I have a feeling I'll be keeping this one for a while, and if there's one thing I'll happily spend money on, it's a slip-on exhaust that will actually make this bike sound as good as it is to ride.  %!s()

Here's every taxi location in Control Resonant and how to solve the taxi cab puzzles.

'The Last Taxi' quest walkthrough in Control Resonant

To complete "The Last Taxi" quest in Control Resonant, you'll need to find a taxi in every zone, answer the payphone, and solve the puzzle inside. You can complete the taxis in any order. The story involving Mila will progress as you escape more thresholds, but the puzzles are unique to each zone.

To find more taxis, listen for any car horns. The taxi will incessantly honk at you if you're in the area, especially if you try to walk away from it. After you enter the taxi, make sure to interact with the payphone in the alleyway. For the puzzles inside, most can be solved by finding the odd one out, like the "Pattern Break" world feat. However, the specific taxi car that you need to enter might not be in the same location, so you'll need to find the pattern and choose the correct car.

Below, we explain where to find every taxi in Control Resonant and how to solve their puzzles.

Central taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in Central can be found in the northwesternmost alleyway. Head west across the rooftops from the Patterned Factory, and you'll run into it in no time. When you get inside, make sure to interact with the payphone to learn about Mila, a woman who is trapped inside this threshold.

This threshold's puzzle involves finding the different taxi cab:

1. Enter the car that has its rear lights on.
2. Enter the car that has its taxi light on.
3. The eight cars are split into two groups of four: one group has its headlights on and rear lights off, while the other has headlights off and rear lights on. Enter the car that has both headlights and rear lights on.

West Incursion Zone taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in the West Incursion Zone is located just beside the Empire Avenue Station entrance, but you'll need Shift from the Parking Garage Fault to get to it. The easiest way to reach this taxi is to backtrack from the "Empire Avenue" fast travel door. Head back through the station and turn left at the first turn. You'll find the taxi on the wall just next to the Empire theater.

To solve this taxi's puzzle, you need to pay close attention to the streetlights:

1. Enter the taxi with a streetlight blinking above it.
2. Enter the taxi that doesn't have a streetlight blinking above it.
3. Enter the taxi whose streetlight is turning on at a different interval than the others.

Evacuation Zone taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in the Evacuation Zone is found at the end of an alleyway just northeast of the "Unauthorized mines?" label on the map. Head into the alley, but make sure to go east rather than west, and you'll find the taxi.

For this puzzle, you need to find the taxi whose lights differ from the others:

1. Enter the taxi whose taxi light turns on at a different interval than the others.
2. Enter the taxi whose lights blink twice.
3. Enter the taxi whose lights don't turn on at all.

Downtown taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

Downtown is the first zone that you visit, but you won't be able to reach its taxi without Reach, which is unlocked from the Subway Fault in the Evacuation Zone. Once you have Reach, head to Lookout Point on the east side of Downtown, and use Reach to get to the easternmost region. Then, immediately head north to find the taxi parked amongst a bunch of other cars.

For Downtown's taxi cab, you must spot the different taxi cab:

1. Find the taxi cab with its taxi light on.
2. Find the taxi cab whose taxi light stays on when you're nearby.
3. Find the taxi cab whose taxi light turns on when you're near a different car.

The Park taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in The Park is found in the same parking garage as the vendor, but it's just one floor below the ice cream truck. From the vendor, head south to find a hole full of mold. Drop into it, and you'll find a path leading to the second-highest floor of the parking garage. Follow it and you'll find the taxi waiting for you. As always, make sure to interact with the phone first and then make your way over to the puzzle.

For this puzzle, you need to fix the broken taxi. Its parts might be covered in mold growth, so make sure to destroy them all. Additionally, make sure you're using parts that fit the yellow taxi.

1. Destroy the mold and reattach the car parts onto the taxi.
2. Attach the tires and the yellow car hood to the taxi.
3. Attach everything, but don't attach the police siren and white car trunk.

Underpass taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in the Underpass is located across the chasm, so you'll need to progress in the "Recursions and Iterations" quest until you ride the cable car. In the next large area that is full of moldy enemies, head to the northeast corner where you'll find the taxi on an elevated platform.

To solve this puzzle, you'll need to pay close attention to the streetlights and their effect on the taxi cabs:

1. Wait for the streetlights to turn off and find the taxi cab whose lights stay on.
2. Wait for the streetlights to turn off and find the taxi cab whose lights turn off.
3. Find the taxi cab that has no lights on when the streetlights are on.

Unknown taxi location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The taxi in the Unknown zone can be found on the same island as the Evac Building, which is the southernmost building when looking at the map. When you're facing the Evac Building, go to its right and you'll find the taxi cab.

For this puzzle, you'll need to shine the light on the taxi cabs and pay close attention to their shadows. All three puzzles have the same solution in this one: find the taxi cab whose shadow is actually a taxi cab.

After you've found every taxi and solved all of their puzzles, you'll finish the quest and earn no rewards. Hooray! If you're looking to get the "Threshold Researcher" achievement, you've completed one of the three requirements:

• "Crossing the Threshold" side quest
• "Unsupervised Science" side quest
• "The Last Taxi" side quest

On Monday, joined by executives from Mesabi Metallics, which recently opened Minnesota’s first new iron ore mine in 50 years, Trump announced the project. It is expected to begin production in 2030 and could bring more than 1,700 jobs to the region, with an initial production capacity of 7.5 million tonnes per year.

The first phase of construction for the project will generate 5,000–6,000 construction jobs, a White House official told Al Jazeera.

The plant in Iowa will use iron ore from the Mesabi Iron Range in nearby Minnesota. Mesabi, which is owned by Indian conglomerate Essar Group, invested more than $2.5bn to build the mine in Minnesota.

“President Trump is delivering on his promise to rebuild American industry, re-shore manufacturing, and create new jobs. Today’s announcement underscores the president’s historic efforts to revitalize the US steel industry—supporting local communities, strengthening supply chains, and protecting our national security,” White House Spokeswoman Taylor Rogers said in a statement to Al Jazeera.

The steel industry has loomed over the first half of Trump’s second term in office. The president imposed 50 percent tariffs on steel and aluminium imports last year in an effort to boost domestic production, but also threatened to increase prices of products that use those materials, from soda cans to washing machines to cars.

“These are your 232 tariffs, the steel tariffs at work. Without those tariffs, this mine does not get built, and this steel plant does not get built”, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in the Oval Office on Monday.

Trump also solidified the US government’s stake in US Steel, which was acquired by Japan’s Nippon Steel in June 2025. As part of the deal, the US government received a so-called “golden share”, which gives the president the authority to appoint a board member to weigh in on decisions that would impact domestic steel production.

Midterm stakes

The announcement comes a little more than a month ahead of the US midterm elections, and the economy is top of mind for US voters.

Among Republicans, Trump is losing steam on his handling of economic issues, with a new September 21 Ipsos poll finding that 56 percent approve of his handling of the economy, down from 80 percent.

Iowa is in play as a seat Democrats could flip in the midterm elections, with Republican Ashley Hinson facing Democrat Josh Turek in November and with polls suggesting a tight race.

Hinson joined the president in the Oval Office for the announcement.

A poll conducted by the Republican-aligned pollster the Trafalgar Group showed Hinson with a two-point lead, while an InsiderAdvantage poll, which is considered more nonpartisan, found Turek leading by two points. %!s()
